Are you an employee of Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS)? Have you ever wanted to be able to incorporate running into your lifestyle? Running is an accessible, inexpensive and effective way to improve your health and fitness, relieve stress, and boost your confidence.  Whether you have never run or it’s been a while since you last ran, the cooler fall weather is the perfect time to start training!

Entering it’s fourth season, the Run Farther & Faster MCPS Fall 2017 Virtual Group 5K Training Program will begin on September 18th and will run for seven weeks through November 6th, culminating with the Rockville 5K, an optional goal race to celebrate your training progress (race registration fee not included, participation is optional and discount code will be provided).

Comprehensive Training Schedule and Coaching Support

This program is appropriate for new runners or runners who are returning after a hiatus.  Participants will receive a comprehensive 7-week training calendar, weekly emails with training support and running-related information, as well as the ability to email experienced, certified coaches with questions or concerns.   Two in-person group training runs will be held in Rockville on Sunday, October 1st and Sunday, October 29th. The training calendar begins with run/walk intervals and progresses safely and gradually towards continuous running, and also includes strength workouts and form drills. Participants also have access to a private Facebook group to facilitate finding running partners for those interested.

Limited to 50 MCPS Participants

There is no charge for this program, but it is limited to the first 50 MCPS employees.  Registration will close when capacity has been reached or on Friday, September 16th.  To register and complete a runner profile, click here. The training calendar and program information will be sent out by the weekend prior to the start of the program.  Contact us at JulieandLisa@runfartherandfaster.com with any questions.
