In addition to serving as volunteer coaches of youth run clubs at their respective children’s schools, Coaches Julie and Lisa are excited to be coaching the JCC of Greater Washington’s delegation to the 2016 Mid-Atlantic Junior Games. The Mid-Atlantic Junior Games are for Jewish girls and boys ages 10-12 (as of May 1, 2016) and offer a one-day experience, modeled after the JCC Maccabi Games. The Games draw participants from Maryland, DC, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and New York for a day of spirited competition in several team and individual sports.

The JCC of Greater Washington in Rockville will be holding tryouts for teams for its delegation to the 2016 Mid-Atlantic Junior Games in late January and early February. Tryouts for track will be Sunday, January 24th and Sunday, January 31st from 3-4:30 pm at the Melvin J. Berman Hebrew Academy track (13300 Arctic Avenue, Rockville 20853). No track or running experience required. Requirements include positive attitude, good sportsmanship and enthusiasm for track and field.

The 2016 Games will be held on Sunday, May 14, 2016 at the Katz JCC in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and in addition to Track, the JCC of Greater Washington will be taking teams in Boys and Girls Soccer, Boys and Girls Basketball, Baseball, Swimming, Tennis. Note: if your child will not be 10 before tryouts, you cannot register online and must mail in a hard copy registration form, which can be found here: http://www.jccgw.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/program-regisration-form-final.pdf. If you child is selected for a team, registration for the Games is $165 for JCC members and $190 for non-members.
